Hi all,
MY Polish roo has been without a tail for over a month now, maybe 2 months, and it doesn't show signs of growing back. I think it may have been pecked at by bullies when he was little. He looks hilarious as a rumpless rooster, and his saddle feathers look like a skirt without a tail to flow around. Is there any chance his tail will grow back, maybe after he molts next fall? He hasn't molted yet because this is his first autumn. Sorry I don't have any pics but I might be able to get some tonight if necessary.

It should grow back soon. I'd love to see pictures though. I bet he looks hilarious!

I'd have hope that the feathers will grow back. My Welsummer hen is at the bottom of the pecking order in her coop and walked around FOREVER with a naked butt. Even my vet said there was no chance she would ever regrow those feathers. He was wrong. After this year's molt, she once again has her butt covered.

OK, here are promised picture of tail-less roo. The middle picture is him next to a fully-tailed roo!

Truchickendiva, I have a white poli roo that lookes exactly like yours did when he lost his tail... He also has that buffy overtone.. His name is Bagle ( named by my Granddaughter) and he is just about 17 months or so old... so it was his first molt... ( mine too) I had no idea what was gong on ... My avitar is a pic of him when he was just a "teen-ager"... They are so funny.. just love the poli chickens!

When did he end up getting his tail back? Mine is STILL without any sign of a tail... but that doesn't stop him from being the meanest rooster out there! :lau

I really like their looks!
For the most part I have no good reason to like roosters (all asshats thus far) but I think I would enjoy their looks enough to not eat one of these guys if he was at least a minimally-decent chicken person.
