I got a white rock a couple months ago from a swap near me and was about 5 months old. Its taller than the rest of my girls (though this is the only white rock I have) and has gone after me twice if I pick up another hen. The other morning, I heard a weird sound out of her down in the coop early morning about 30 minutes after sunrise but it was a rooster crow..just something I've never heard. I've never had a rooster before but I'm starting to wonder. Do they go right into a full crow or do they work into it?

I've also noticed egg production drop in the past number of weeks (7 to 3/day)

What do you think?

You've got yourself a cockerel there.
It's rare that a cockerel actually sounds good when he first starts to crow. They usually sound pretty funny.
Thanks everybody. I thought the same thing about the saddle feathers. Crazy. And thats exactly what I was looking for in relation to the sound. It didnt QUITE sound like a crow but it CERTAINLY doesn't sound like one of the girls. THanks!
