Hey yall,
Wondering about this pullet/cockerel's breed?
She's a French Copper Maran, around 15 weeks old. Never shown any rooster behavior, is at the bottom of the pecking order, and has been henpecked once even.
Always thought she was a hen but a family member reported hearing crowing this morning. (We don't have any other roos in our neighborhood.)

Cock! You can tell by his hackle feathers and large comb and wattles.

Gotta say I was not expecting that. To me, he looks exactly like the other girl French Maran pullet we have.

Do you see the pointy feathers on the neck and by the saddle area? That, as well as the big, red comb and wattles at 15 weeks indicates a rooster.
