If you're worried about heat use real insulation.

Plywood isn't needed under a metal roof, and won't provide much relief from heat anyway

If it get's cold you most definently should insulate under the tin, if it does not...then well, that's your choice.

Ugh its Texas and lately its been 95 on up with humidity. Maybe I'll just put plywood on for now and see how it does. I can always change it. I was thinking of doing a closed in coop now I'm considering a 3 walled and for the 4th wall I am going make it hinged so I can either have it open or closed depending on the time of year.

Hey galanie, you and I are neighbors. I am North of Houston in Montgomery. My coop is going to be 4x8, 2ft off the ground and the coop itself should be 6ft in the front and 5ft in the back.
Is you coop in the shade? I have some shade but definately very sunny in my backyard.

If you're worried about the heat but don't want to fool with plywood, you can always use the blue board insulation. Its easy to cut and fit as well as being much lighter. It will also reduce much of the heat radiating from the tin.

My coop is 8 ft at the high end and 7 at the low. Just metal over 2x4's. I do have a fan in coop but seems to work fine. Hot Kentucky climate.

Texas here.
Plain tin in the hot sun on a 105* day will make the coop into a sauna.

I used a foil-backed OSB board roof made from scraps from nearby construction. It is made for roofing. I see it in 4x8 sheets at home depot, and it isn't much money. The top layer is tin from an old garden shed, over the "foil OSB" stuff and that works fine. I was going to cut blue board Foam insulation and fit between rafters, but have not needed to yet.
