ROOFUS IS A MOM

hi, roofus's (my broody hen) eggs hatched some time last night. out of three eggs 3 hatched. they are so cute. i will get pics soon.

how long after the eggs are hatched does the mom go out side for a walk with the chicks

Congratulations!!! Can't wait for the pics!!

I let my hen out with her little one the next day after she hatched. It was really interesting watching mom start teaching her things at such an early age. I was a little nervous and kept a close watch on them, but they had a great time. Of course, for the first week or so I brought them in the house at night, but after that they have stayed in their own little coop with a yard and are doing great.

It takes a day or two for the hen to go walking with the chicks. For the first while she will just huddle with the chicks and look silly by crawling along the ground with them so they stay warm, but they will all be running around before you know it.
