Hello all, I just hatched my first eggs and 6 out if 24 hatched. I'm trying to figure out how to tell my 3 week old hens from roos. Barred rock rooster and red sex link hen are the parents.I'll post pics as soon as I get back to them.

Hi and welcome to BYC. There's lots of helpful members so feel free to ask any questions that you may have. Gender ID at 3 weeks a little difficult. I'd suggest waiting until they are around 6 weeks before posting pics.

Best to wait at least another month or so before trying to tell your cockerels from your pullets. Once they reach that age, feel free to post pictures for help sexing the chicks.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. The other members have given you some good advice. Unless your chicks are first generation sex links or auto sexing breeds (not so in your case), 3 weeks is too young to sex them with any accuracy. At 6-8 weeks or so, the cockerels will begin to develop larger and redder combs than the pullets. I would suggest posting their pics for gender identification at that time. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Cheers.

Welcome to BYC ! Your chicks are cross between BR and sex links so the sexing based on color could be a bit tricky. You can post the pics of your chicks, we'd love to see your new hatch.
