Make sure he doesn't gain wait too fast or he will be crippled. When I was a kid, I kept a rooster as a pet that was meant to be butchered not knowing at the time they were not meant to live very long. He grew very large and could not walk very good, I put him on a diet. He lost some weight and could walk again. He ended up growing to the size of medium Turkey. He only lived about 6 months. I believe he died of a heart attack. Broiler chickens can have many health problems. They gain weight so fast the rest of the body can't handle it. My Rooster did not live long but he was a very friendly pet who followed me every place.

Definitely. His comb is bigger than some of my hens that are a few years old.
