I have 6 chicks that are about 16-18 wks old ,they are ee mutts and would like to know if they all "fight " the same way? One is def a roo and when he squares off with another his hackles are up ,now the other chicks that he squares off with will they have the same posture?(roo)? Also will the females fight like that or will they just run around all goofy and squirrely? Can't tell who is a roo and who is not and getting pics is way too stressful(nobody holds still, lol)Would appreciate any input .

Darn , thats not what I wanted to hear.lol, I would like to start weeding out the "freeloaders" as soon as possible. No offense to the roos, but if it doesn't lay and egg....

Yep, hens fight the same way, hackles raised and everything. My hens use their beaks more than jumping and clawing.

You might start looking at the combs.
Roo's combs will start turning red as they start maturing, which is earlier than the hens.
Your hens won't have red combs until they start to lay.
Also, look at their legs. The roo's legs are usually thicker and their feet are bigger.
But sometimes you just have to wait and see.
