For the next guy with a similar dilemma, I changed to two shorties on the left side and they seem happy with it 
With the single long bar, they were all crowding down to the wrong side, leaving the mess in the nesting box area, and competing for the same spot. Planning to put something wipeable on the wall behind the roost.
