Roost ideas for a small coop.

The shavings will absorb almost all moisture from the droppings. Since you will have a poop board even less droppings will hit the floor than in my coop.

My floors are painted with porch and floor paint. I feel it has better staying power than regular paint. Well over 5 years in my coops and still no flaking, peeling or rotting.
I would not add a plastic liner. Yes moisture can get trapped under that but worse is a home for creepy bugs to hide.
there was an earlier thread about using sand on the floor. I'm thinking about trying that. I figure I should be able to get it to about an inch thick. Any thoughts?

The sofits are screened in with hardware cloth and reinforced with wood on the top so that whatever vermin tries to bend the HW cloth over to get in will NOT be able to.

What’s remaining is as follows;

Cut out a pop door in the larger coop door.
Build the enclosure and gate.
nice house. I used a dog "pen", or run, for an enclosure. they are available in panels, so you can put them together to make it as large as you want. regular chain link fence hardware works well with it. gates and latches are also available.

Yes, I am building my own run. So far I have it framed and covered. I just have to fence it in now. This is what I’ve done so far.

Good lord! Rookie mistake. I attached the top 24in HW cloth to the OUTSIDE of the fence rails instead of the INSIDE! Ugh.. oh well it’s already cut to length so it won’t be all that hard to redo it on the inside. You live and learn! I took the measurements on the outside and got in a zone and just started screwing it in! Lol!
