Roost in the coop

I agree that chicken poop is at least as valuable as the eggs! Eggs are tasty and healthy, but that chicken poop in the compost makes everything in the garden tasty and healthy, too.

Now I need to go make a giant sand box for under my roosts... that is a fabulous idea.

Elderoo, again, I think this idea is fabulous, and I was going to use it, but I had such good luck with peat moss in their brooder, that I think that I'll start off with peat in the dropping box that I'm building now. If the peat doesn't work out as well as it did in the brooder, then I'll dump it and go with the sand. THANKS

BTW, I would NEVER use peat in the brooder in the LIVING ROOM again; there was far too much dust for my wife to vacuum. I'd keep the brooder with peat in the garage or someplace out of the house.
I'm betting that SAND in the brooder box IN THE LIVING ROOM would have worked much better. The chicks' scratching would have kept the poop covered.
