Hi there! I am a newbie.... just got two pullets last week! Excited to be embarking on this new adventure 
Anyway, my question is about bedding. I have a small coop that is mostly open on the sides with a completely open run attached. The hens roost at the top of the coop and their droppings fall right onto the ground. I have a mixture of shavings & straw on the ground which became a wet mess during a couple of days of rain. Do I need to rake this out and replace every time it rains? Or, should I just throw some dry litter on top? How often would I do either of those things? Any suggestions about how to maintain the bedding would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
