Roost pole

Roost pole should be higher than the nests or they'll roost in the nest and poop them up.
They usually feel safer the higher they can roost and will roost as high as possible.

Other circumstances might dictate height of roost...type of bird(heavy birds vs silkies), size of coop(enough room to fly down without hitting a wall), etc.

Pics of coop would help folks give you a better answer.

or you could do a search....advanced search>titles only> roost height

Ok well the issue is them laying from roost pole ?? If i lower it the eggs wont be broken i have 4 nests an 8 hen 2 pullets

So the problem is that they are not laying in the nests?

Put some fake eggs or golf balls in the nests, might help them figure out where to lay.

Ive got 3 golf bals in eash nest box
At first a few were using the other boxes then up an quit?? I even changed the bedding an hung a curtain partialy over all the boxes
This morning at 6 am sharp went out to find 1 egg on the floor cracked but good another on top of a nest box ?? These silly fowl are so confusing to me

There's a few threads out there about this ........advanced search>titles only>won't lay in nest

If you don't find an answer there, maybe start a new thread titled 'won't lay in nest'

Good Luck!
