My husband, father, & 2 boys went down to our waterfall/creek to see if we could find some crayfish and I saw this long NICE branch under the water. Its about 7ft long, super sturdey. Its been in a fast flowing creek/river and all the old bark is ripped off.. I had to fight my dad for it b/c he wanted to make a walking stick out of it.. NOPE its for my feather babies!! Now just need a dang coop to put it in

i always heard and was told round roost not a good thing that flat it better just what i been told but still a real good score

I believe round is fine as long as it's a large enough diameter. After all, jungle fowl perched in trees, just not out in the skinny branches.

Hmmm....I have a fallen TREE in the run for the outside roost all sizes of branches and inside I have a few branches too (but the have bark on them) You know I just made a comment on another thread that my grannys chickens roosted where ever they were at dark, she threw out scratch, didnt have runs or lights or roost, feeders, heaters or any of that...or fancy egg boxes...and those chickens were good producing farm animals. We (myself included) have made them into pets with names and get em to sit in our laps. I think the chickies will love the roost, and if they dont they will sit somewhere else they like better. I look at myself and think how ridiculous it is that I have spent like over a thousand bucks on the coop and run etc and the chickens couldnt care less. (of course...Im the crazy chicken lady and I work every single day on finishing up the siding and DECORATIONS for my coop) so no I do not have my grannys chicken mentality. Ok Im done now. Go put up your awesome stick roost!
