Roost Setup

I'm debating on a ladder style roost or several long ones. Still unclear how I should set these up. I'm also interested in poop board arrangement with both styles. Can y'all share your wisdom on what has or hasn't worked for you? Pictures would also be fantastic. I'm looking at an 8 foot length space as deep as I need it. As of now I will be starting with 11 birds in an 8' x 8' space. I believe this is sufficient if I have done my calculations correctly! They will also have an 8' x 16' run. Only out to free range with supervision due to our city ordinances.

I would not do what @aart has shown that will cause the chickens to party at night when they should be sleeping.

Usually the worst spot is by the food. I clean the worst of it every couple days. Also depends on how many chicks you have. I don’t care for a dirty stinky setup so I try to keep it pretty clean.
