My coop is 4ftx6ft 4feet high at the highest hight and and slants down to 3 and a half feet i will have 8 adult chickens and with the three roosts i have it would be 18 total feet of roost space. so i guess i could have 18 chickensHow big is this Coop ? How many adult chickens will it have to hold...?
I don't think so. @aart would know.can they fly up through a 1ft gap?
Take out one of the three roosts for more navigation space. My coop is 4ftx6ft 4feet high at the highest hight and and slants down to 3 and a half feet i will have 8 adult chickens and with the three roosts i have it would be 18 total feet of roost space. so i guess i could have 18 chickens![]()
That's clever. My coop was the same size. Last winter, it was really tight for six pullets. I added a second and a half floors. The ground floor is the dining and family room. The second story houses the egg boxes and the living room. The half floor on top houses the roosts. They seem a lot happier now. We do get snow and ice here, so the girls are cooped up quite a bit.
Okay i will take out the third one out, is 2ft too high? yes i was totally kidding that would probably basically be animal abuse. sorry if i scared you with my jokeTake out one of the three roosts for more navigation space.
Make roosts as low as possible with them still being above nests.
4x6 is tight for 8 birds.
You're kidding about 18, right?
