Roost spacings

I have read several places that I should provide about one foot of roost length for each bird. If I put up two roosts, how far should they be apart, and how close can the first one be to the wall?

I put mine about 10 to 12 inches from the wall, you could maybe squeeze it a bit closer to the wall, but then you will also have more poop on the wall.

Perches spaced about a foot apart worked well for me.
