Rooster aggression

I wanted to let everyone know about the progress we've made with our big, aggressive rooster, Frost. He has been acting much more respectful for the last couple of months (even before the weather started getting colder). I think the "gentle" training has really helped show him who's boss, whereas fighting back just seemed to reinforce his need to protect his hens. I think he may have also simply matured enough so that he doesn't feel the need to "strut his stuff" all the time! Perhaps some roosters go through a "teen-boy" stage where they act more cocky, before they settle into a more relaxed routine. That's what I think, anyway. All in all, we all feel a lot more secure around all our chickens now. Frost is still a strong leader, but WAY more relaxed around his family of people. He even stays quiet while we've been working in the coop, while he and his flock are roosting nearby. He still occasionally gives you a "stink eye" and makes you wonder if he's in a mood... but very rarely tries to attack. Sometimes he's even down-right friendly, and looks forward to our treats. Oh, and he's like a big brother to our smaller, Andalusian rooster, Cobalt. They get along great and make an awesome team to watch over their ladies. For anyone who thinks they have a hopeless rooster... think again!
