I have one rooster and he starts to attack me and peck me every time I go in to feed or water or just to count to make sure I have everyone. He's a rhode island red and the only rooster out of 11 hens.

Rhode Island Reds seems to have a rep for not being the friendliness. He probably just see you as a threat. There’s some articles on here that can help you work with him as long as you don’t have little kids that could potentially get hurt. I love working with animals but I also can’t risk my kids getting injured. Best of luck 😊

How old? He looks pretty young. Do you need or want a rooster?

If you have kids or kids come to visit, a rooster can be a big liability bc they are unpredictable. A young kid has face and eyes at perfect height for damage by a cockerel or rooster. Wings are strong and can do damage, but the feet/nails and beak can really do harm. Once they are older, the spurs can also do damage.

Welcome!
If this is your first flock, all youngsters, it would be best to move him on elsewhere. He shouldn't behave this way, and it can take experience to manage cockerels, even nice ones.
If children are involved, or visitors, definitely he's not the right bird for you!
@Beekissed has a good article about managing difficult roosters, and there are other articles on this site too, but then again, next year you will have adult hens, more experience, and can raise some cockerels and keep a nice one!

Thanks, I'll let my husband know and we might just have to separate him from the hens. We have 2 kids that love the chickens and if he's attacking me, I don't want them getting hurt.
