Rooster alone in apartment while at work?

How long has the cockerel been living at the farm?
What about the other birds you raisied in the apartment?
Does he only have scaly leg mites....or red mites too?
Pics of feet please?
The scaly legs mites are not going to take up residence in your house, but the red mites can.
Agrees with most others, keeping a rooster in a cage in an apartment is not cool,
both for the bird and the neighbors.

Be very careful with the no crow collar, they can take constant adjustment the first week or so.....leaving him alone all day with it on before adjustments and acclimation are complete could end disastrously.

thank you so much for responding. I have not even tried the no-crow collard on him. does not sound right. Took him to vet yesterday and vet also discovered flea eggs and fleas running all over him.

Solutions so far:

1. Ordered Elector PSP to treat entire flock and coop.
2. Vet also suggested Pyrethrin spray to apply directly on him.
3. He also gave my rooster an Ivermectin injection and gave me an additional serynge to administer on the roo in about two weeks.

Declaring war on these lice, mites, etc bothering my poor rooster...

I'm with the others on the no-crow collar - by nature, a rooster crows to alert when something is wrong. So he crows, the collar kicks in, HEY! Something is wrong! He crows again - it can get to a back/forth and if the Rooster doesn't end up dead, at minimum he's going to be stressed out as can be. Like aart said - those things take a lot of adjustment and acclimation under close supervision to do any good.

I admire your resolve to bring him into the house to try to save him. Maybe you have a friend with some space in a back yard who can rooster-sit for a while? I hope all works out for you!

Awesome! Hopefully you can save the entire flock - you know that Roo is gonna be very sad if he ends up the only one who makes it.

Thank you so much for your kind response. As you rightly mentioned, saving the entire flock is the way to go. Also, I am looking to move into a new home in about 2-3 months, so I'll bring them all with me at that time. It will all be Ok in the end. This is all part of a learning process - trying to learn about all these problems and best ways to solve them on our own (and with the help of these awesome forums) without the assistance of expensive vets...
