I’m trying my hardest not to put the cart before the horse, but I suspect one of my Speckled Sussex pullets is indeed a cockarel. I’ve never raised any before and they’re 5 weeks old, but one suddenly has a large pink comb. I know they can mature at different rates so I’m trying to stay hopeful, but I also want to have a plan in place and I’m finding it harder to interact with them because I don’t want to get any more attached than I already am.
I live in town and I wouldn’t be able to keep him. My parents live a couple miles from us, but in the country. They are getting a couple goats next month and I jokingly said they would be getting him. If he does turn out to be a he, would this be an option for a happy life for him, without any hens, but rather two goats for pals? I would love if they would take him, then we can still see him and I know he wouldn’t be butchered.

ProperPriorPlanning is never a mistake.
Hope for the best, plan for the worst.
Red comb at 5 weeks is pretty telling, especially if you have others of same breed to compare to.
Sorry, not sure about the chicken/goat question.
Except that goats can gorge on chicken feed, not good for them at all.

My goats aren’t allowed in with the chickens because they will eat all their feed and will get sick, and when the chickens go into the goat pen the goats ram at them... I don’t think that would be a very good situation. It would be much better to just let him free range with his own pen or just have his own coop/cage.
