Rooster and Pullets

I have a bantam rooster at least a year old. We added him to out flock about 3-4 weeks ago, right after we added 3 month old pullets. Our original flock is 11 hens that are around a year old. They get on fine, until bedtime. Everyone jumps on the roost and and the Rooster runs our 3-4 month pullets off. He leaves them alone as long as they stay on the floor. He doesn't hurt them, he just pecks enough to run them off. Is there anything I can do?

Last night I held him for a while, during the time that we put all the hens and pullets on the roost. I waited a little and put him back in and it seems to have helped. Is that the right thing to do? Or should I do something differently?

You could seperate the rooster for a week, bring him back, and everything would be good!
