rooster attacked by dog...need help

Ok so update today..he survived through the night although he looks so sad. Seeing his girls get killed along with his own trauma I am sure is why he is so sad. I sprayed a ton of Vetericyn. Fancy Feet I am doing exactly what you did with yours but I do not have mine in the coop with his girls because he only has 1 surviving girl out of 4 that we found later that night in the 1st big run we fence off for rotation. She apparently flew over the first fence and then she went behind our electrical box and hid all night there. I honestly don't think he will do too well out in the coop with the rest of them he gets a bit anxious when I had him on my lap and heard the other rooster crowing. He has been eating and drinking. Drinking a lot!!! Right now I just checked on him and he is perched on his water bowl in the horse trough. He can't walk real well on his left side, he tries and nearly falls. I just pray he makes it. He is such a great rooster!
You can also give him a baby aspirin 81mg or a reg 325mg aspirin for pain/swelling,dose is 25mg per lb of body weight, crush and place in water(my preference)or sprinkle over feed. Where is his one remaining girl? It might be a good idea for him to see her(i would not put him with her b/c of his injuries)but if he can see her,it might help with depression as he will realize he saved one of his girls. It would also help her to see him,i am sure she is stressed also, you might want to consider giving her some electrolytes for shock, keep an eye on her too.

Make sure he is warm, when ill/injured chickens cannot regulate their body temp,so additional heat may be required.

His other girl is in the big coop with the other 21 hens and Roo but she is kinda of lost as well. That is a great idea. I will bring her to him and let them see each other. Maybe I will put him in a dog crate a couple times a day for a little bit so he can see everyone. I have him in the barn where I have the heat set on 65 tonight since its suppose to get down to 30. I just don't want him to get sick. My son is giving him aspirin now, thank you.

Update 1 week later…He is hanging in there. Doing great, eating and drinking. I change his dressing every 24 hours and I also have to go in and move him around because he can't walk to much. He is very weak on his left side. When he tried to walk he waddles then will fall over. But this morning he actually walked on his own and seems to be a bit more alerts. Last night I mixed canned cat food and a cooked egg with shells and fed it too him and he gobbled it down. He will not touch tuna. I do have one concern though. I had his dressing off for about 20 minutes last night while I was tending to the big and med size coops and when I came back he had pecked his naked back to a bloody mess!! Is this normal? I read in other posts someone posted when you have a chicken hurt that has had feathers torn to bare back they need to have that dressing off to expose their bare back to be able o heal but I found out I can't do this with our Roo. But I also did notice he was cleaning off the old feathers I did not get off him. Also can I take him inside the house and give him a bath in the sink without him going crazy or hurting the would area? He is also getting quit anxious now whenever I spray the Vetericyn. He does not like it sprayed on his bare back at all! Any suggestions that could help me.

Last monday we had a small dog attack our chickens ,  my rooster tried his best to protect the girls. he has a area on his back about 4x6 that is missing skin, muscle is showing. we have been keeping him confined , spraying his wound with vetricin spray and wrapping him up with 4x4's gauze and vet wrap. he is doing well, eating , drinking pooping and crowing. my question is will his skin grow back, and feathers. or will i have to keep it covered forever. we love this guy (he is a blue cochin) and he is very sweet.  any info would be great. thanks

My rooster got attacked by a big dog today. All his tail feather are gone and his hind end is exposed and bloody. He let us pick him up and we put him in the nesting box and the other hen and her baby chick are also there roosting. What are his chances of surviving?

After cleaning his wounds and putting some plain Neosporin on his wounds daily, I would probably bring him inside or put him in his own box or cage with food and water. Broody hens can be very protective, and he will be pecked by others because of his redness and wounds. Get some BluKote to spray on his wounds when they are better. I think he can do well unless he is in shock or has internal injuries. Feed him scrambled eggs or other special foods he likes in addition to chicken feed.

My rooster that was attacked by the dog continues to eat but today I noticed that his right eye is closed but his left one is open. He is still confined in the nesting box and shares the nest with Rosie. I'm afraid that there's something wrong with eye. Why would one eye be shut and not the other. Could it be an infection?

Can you post a picture of his eye? Did he get bit near the eye. Does he have any respiratory symptoms, swelling, or watery eyes?
