Rooster attacked our toddler

So true! A rooster, who has a tiny tiny brain is going to perceive anything small that makes noise and runs around as a predator. Their brains are just not developed enough to distinguish between a child and an actual predator.
I've seen how our 3 y.o. GS is around the yard and I've seen my roo (who is outside the fenced yard) watches him. Small children and roosters don't mix, IMO.

My 4 year old got attacked we decided to rehome him were there were no young kids and I still get to visit him and he is very happy in a non free range enviroment with his ladies. Glad you did the right thing.

I'm glad to hear that your son is fine but I am sorry if it were me the roo would be dinner tonight My family safety is first and formost that could have your childs eye so I belive an eye for an eye.... This is mho so do not judge me but if it were me he would be dinner.

I've had 7 roosters over the years. The 2 Bantams and my first BO were complete pets. My kids were small and there was no problem. 3 (2 former Leghorns and my current BO) were irritating but not dangerous. The final bird was a Jersey Giant who violently attacked my 4 yr. old. The child escaped with minor scratches--the rooster was donated to a family's dinner within the hour.

I was attacked by a rooster when I was about six or seven. The rooster also attacked my father and my grandfather so it wasnt just attacking small people for the joker. I still wanted a rooster when I got my own flock and so far my boy hasn't attacked anyone yet

VERY SCARY!!!! I just got our first rooster and now I'm wondering if I should give him back.

She assured me he was very docile and so far he seems very docile, but hmmmmm......he's still a rooster and her kids were 10 and 13 while my little ones are 6 and 1.

I don't have kids, but my roosters (Silkies & Showgirls) don't attack me. However, when my 2 yo niece comes over, my SG roo has attacked her--jumped on her back. ANother day she brought a cupcake and he was fine with stealing that from her hand and seemed to be ok with her as long as she had food in hand.

But I have another friend on here FeatherBaby who is not a child and one day he just got ticked at her and grabbed the back of her leg. Has NEVER done that to another adult. They do seem to recognize people and I guess some people just set them off.

I would imagine chicks growing into roos being around kids would do the best.

It sad that the rooster would attack ur boy I have a lot of gamefowl and some have attack me but never my kids I'm going to be more carefull with them when my kids are around

We had a "rooster rake" out in our barnyard, when kids were young. They carried that around and roos left them alone! Gentlest roo ever was Rupert, a dk Brahma.
