Rooster attacking drake

My rooster hatched a week before mother's day and my duck on mother's day, they r best friends. My rooster tries to mate her and my duck flattens right out for him. He has hens. A month or so ago I got a drake for my duck (Halle). My Roo went nuts tried to kill the drake it seemed. I locked up my Roo (Harry) in the pen so he could see everyone but the drake was still safe. The drake follows Halle everywhere she could care less. My Roo and drake were fine for a week and now my Roo is trying to get the drake again. Why? What should I do?
Thanks for any help you can give.
I live in Saskatchewan Canada 🇨🇦

It is possible that they may never get along. Long ago I had a RIR rooster who would attack a drake that I had. They free ranged so drake could keep his distance. One day he had enough and killed the rooster.

Keep them separated or rehome either the rooster or the ducks. The rooster thinks the duck is his (and him mating it is bad), and sees the drake as a threat.

If you can't do either, get Guinea Fowl. They'll alert you of any fights and will try to stop them themselves. They worked great when I had a problem with my gander and rooster getting in fights.

Don't keep a drake with female chickens, he can kill them if he tries to mate them. The cockerel is responding as any male would when another male intrudes upon his territory and his women. The cockerel is young and hormonal, he'll mate anything that lets him, so him mating the duck is not surprising. It's not going to hurt her, because chickens don't have penises and don't penetrate. Drakes, on the other hand, do, and it can rip up and kill a chicken hen if a drake mates her. Especially now that you have removed the chickens' protector and there's nobody watching over them, the drake might get bolder and try to mate the chicken hens (especially if the duck hen isn't interested in him). Don't punish the cockerel, he didn't do anything wrong or out of place with the drake. Either house the chickens and the ducks separately, or get rid of the drake.
