Any animal will attack if you let it. Do you run? Some animals think they are playing a game. You must establish you place in the flock. You can get rid of both roo's and then the head hen will do the same thing. They see you as a lower class hen or an intruder.
You can do some things to help with your status within the flock.
Hold your Roo.
Wrap him in a towel and hold him for a long time.
Give only him treats. worms, blueberries, etc.
Get him in the frame of mind that when he sees you he will get treats.
If he comes at you, run right back at him. Don't give in. If he walks toward you then you should walk toward him.
Grab him and hold him down. Show him you are the top chicken. If you act like a second class chicken that is how he is going to treat you.
There is no reason to hurt or smack a chicken to teach them.
He might be attacking you because of fear.
Remember he is there for a reason. You are about to kill the best protection your flock has.
