I have 8 hens (mix of RIR and BO) and one RIR rooster who are all about 16 weeks old. I have 1 male Rouen who sadly lost his duck friend to a predator earlier this summer, so I got 2 new ducks to keep him company. They are about 6 weeks old and I've had them in the coop for 3-4 weeks with everyone else but separated in a smaller pen. Every time I try to let them out with the flock, the rooster attacks them. Everyone else seems fine with them but he jumps on them and starts pulling feathers out of their heads. I hate leaving the new ducks penned up all the time and they're getting pretty big, but I don't want them to get hurt! Is it time to get rid of my rooster? Should I lock him up by himself for a while and let the ducks out? I do let the flock free range during the day and lock them in the coop at night. Thanks everyone!
