Our egg production has taken a dump and we're trying to figure out why.
How much affect does the rooster have on laying hens?
They'll be a year old next month and are light brahmas if that helps.
    Thanks!!

A rooster has no effect on laying hens, unless he stresses them out by overmating.

Unless multiple roosters are gang breeding the hens or a rooster is overly zealous or rough (more of an impact in a small flock) , a rooster generally does not impede egg production. This time of year molting, decreasing day length, stress from summer heat, or just time for a 'break' can result in decreased egg production.

Thanks guys. 1 rooster to 25 ladies but only 9 are his age, the other are younger pullets he's showing no interest in, despite them squatting in front of him. Little hussies.
