Well, the cockerels here usually try it on with their mums first.Oh noHow will I know if that’s what’s on his mind? We are his flock I guess, he’s never too far away but doesn’t usually act ‘hungry’ when he’s not hungry. I figured he still just saw me as his mum since he’s always thought I was.
Thank you for the feedback, I read your article, very informative, especially the mating dance behavior which I would have misinterpreted as aggression if I saw it before reading the article! He hasn’t tried to mate with anyone’s feet yet luckily but I can see that this will start to happen soon. I will try to find some hens for him and see how that goes. Will it not make him more aggressive if he has hens to protect? Am happy for him to protect us but am concerned that he will change personality or go feral I guess.Well, the cockerels here usually try it on with their mums first.

For some here, I'm mum. This is Treacle having sex with my boot. He's got a bit of a leather fetish. He wasn't overly bothered that I'm male. Cocerels and roosters often aren't.
You have a potential problem ahead. If you push him away then he's going to feel rejected. He will probably try to grab any part of your body or clothing as he would try to grab the back of the neck of a hen so he can mount her. Many people think this is aggression. It isn't, it's their cockerel trying to mate.
It can become aggression if he gets rejected. As far as he's concerend you are one of his hens and he has the right to mate with you.
Have a read of this article. It may help you understand his behaviour better and avoid having to deal with an aggressive cockerel later.

It sounds like he is a real sweet ladies' man and may be ready for some lady friends. Will it not make him more aggressive if he has hens to protect? Am happy for him to protect us but am concerned that he will change personality or go feral I guess.
