Rooster biting hens neck..

My rooster grabs my hens' necks too, but then he mounts then while doing it. I think it's because he dances for them and they dont lie down, so he forces them to lay down so he can mount them

My roo, Marge, has eleven hens who are near maturity and a bunch of immature pullets as well. Right now we have (1) Maran who just laid her second egg. She squats for him, but he still grabs her on the neck. It is normal. He ha become much more polite since I “block” him from approaching the youngsters with his dancing antics. After reading all the horror stories about aggressive Roos, I am thrilled with his progress.
