I have a rooster that does a great job taking care of my girls, but a lot of them are low of feathers on their backs. He has 20 hens, 15 of which are getting featherless backs.

Instead of putting saddles on 15 hens, can I put boots on my rooster?

It looks cute, but is in inhumane?

hahaha at chicken with shoes!!

The toe nails are more often the culprit rather than the spurs.
Hens can also just have brittle feathers.
Your boy may just be too rough or over indulging.

Instead of getting saddles .....or shoes....get a new home for your boy?

When I trim my rooster's spurs, he gets a pedicure at the same time. I use a Dremmel with a grinder bit. It's fun and easy and he doesn't mind a bit.

Reminds me, he's due.

He separated from the flock right now. I will give him another chance in the fall be be less aggressive (he will be nearly 2 years old). If not, we will have some chicken stew.

Shoes did not work well, he shoot them, pecked them and scraped them on the fence until they came off!
