ROOSTER COLLARS????

My beautiful tiny FRIZZLE is a rooster!!!! I live on 1/3 acre in Los Angeles and have a grumpy "by the books" neighbor. I've had free range chickens here 20 years when the area was a real neighborhood and have lived here over 40... she moved in 3 years ago with her perfect family. I can return my little Frizzle and hope for a female in exchange BUT want to to know opinions about the rooster collars I've heard of.

They muffle the sound slightly but your neighbor will still hear the crow. They are also uncomfortable for the rooster, and need to be extremely tight to work at all.

Collars often don't work very well on bantams because they have shorter necks. I have tried collars on LF roosters, but they didn't work very well without choking the roosters. I wouldn't recommend it, since they don't work without hurting the rooster.

It will choke him and may cause severe damage. I wouldn't put an animal through that.

Agreed, I'm sorry you can't keep him but roo collars a cruel, dangerous and not even very effective.

sound like the collar should be outlawed. I'm really love him but the crowing is making me so stressed on behalf of my neighbors . His little crow reminds me of a distant rooster (I wanted to kill) on Maui... now I smile with the memory.
