rooster collars??

Someone posted about using a constrictive collar to reduce crowing/volume. Does anyone know about these or were I might find one?

Thanks

I got mine from a lady in NSW Australia and she calls them "Cockadoodledon'ts" and they are much nicer than the American "No Crow" brand out there. A lot softer on the bird and my boy has no problems at all and has been wearing it for 3 months now. Even took it off today to see if he crows anymore and he was quiet, but I don't want to risk him once in the morning just yet. I haven't had any luck with already well established crowers but I tackled mine the very second day he started crowing so I think he was successful because of when I introduced it.

They do work and the rooster does not at all struggle with it on. No panting, no gasps and I can easily fit my finger between his neck and the collar. It's only cruel if you don't put it on correctly I think. And the fertility is fine, get 2 out of 3 red spots in my breakfast every morning.

Can anyone tell me a better way to contact the lady that makes the rooster collars? I have asked her to contact me on face book but have had no response. I would like to purchase 2 of them. Thanks for your help

I had three baby roosters out of my batch of six bantam cochin eggs. They were all so sweet and got along really well (I know you shouldn't do this, but they all slept in a next box together!), but we live in town and I knew at some point they'd start to crow and I'd have to find them homes. But, I fell in love with them and when they started to crow I franticly contacted Lauren, who makes the No Crow Collar. They were $14 each, plus shipping. I asked via email if she would be able to expedite the collars if I paid extra. I should have known when it took three days for her to respond with a "yes" that her definition of "urgent" is different than mine. She didn't tell me how much the quote was for expediting, so I just sent an extra $40 via paypal, on top of the regular collar and shipping charges, and thanked her like crazy for sending these collars as fast as possible!! I didn't hear a thing from her for two weeks! I was doing everything I could to keep those boys quiet so neighbors wouldn't complain. She wouldn't respond to emails and when I ran into someone who was looking for a couple of bantam roosters and had a nice home for them, I gave two of them to her, and cried my eyes out. The next day, the collars showed up and had been shipped via regular mail. I emailed her to ask for a refund of the $40, and she said she was sorry for her delay and would refund my extra money, but I never got it. I'm chalking it up to a sour deal with a "work from home" business that I won't do again.

So, I put a collar on my remaining rooster. He tried to wiggle out of it for about a day, and then seemed fine. It made his crow much quieter and it had a garggly sound to it. I didn't really like the garggly sound, but it wasn't bothering him and he was quieter. Then a couple weeks later he started walking backwards all the time. I googled this behavior (forgetting about the collar) and found perhaps he had a vitamin deficiency. I tried treating it, but nothing worked. Finally I thought I'd try taking the collar off, and that cured him of his walking backwards. Now his crow is loud again, and getting worse. I'm going to try making my own, softer collar for him. The No Crow Collar is simply three pieces of Velcro attached to a netting type material, with no soft lining to it at al. I think it was pulling on his feathers (he's a frizzle) or somehow scratching him all the sudden.

Sorry for the long book....but that's my experience so far. :)

Oh, I wanted to add that I tried using the sock method. It's actually a brilliant idea, but my roosters all picked at the sock over and over and pulled the threads apart. I took them off, afraid they'd eat the long threads.

Yeah, that's what happened to me too, same with hair ties. I bought some Velcro from the local fabric store, it was less than $5 for enough to make 10 collars. Works great, no threads to worry about.

Can you post a photo of your collar? How did you assemble it? Thanks

How do you buy these? I put the name in google but it didn't bring them up. Does she have a website?

Cutechick369 you paid with paypal. You have buyers protection. File a claim and get your money back. Don' delay because there is a time limit for filing.
