rooster collars??

My Pet Chicken has the collars in stock now.  They're being commercially produced now evidently in order to keep up with demand.

I can order it on Amazon shipped free for $10 for 4 ft of this. Does this compare to what you paid at your hardware store?

Making sure it's industrial and 4 inches is the most important from what I have read.

We've had a lot of interest in the No-Crow Rooster Collar and created a short video showing our own rooster with and without the collar. Our experience has been that not only is there a significant decrease in the volume of the crow, but the rooster doesn't have the urge to crow as frequently, either. It took me a lot longer to record a crow with the collar than one without because he was crowing so much less frequently. As you consider whether to fashion something similar at home or to purchase, consider that our collars are designed with both mess and Velcro, and made (and patented!) in-the USA, and cost only $17 including shipping.

Wait a minute. I thought it was supposed to be 2" wide. Is that correct. Are you saying 4" long?

2" wide works great... I made a mistake, thinking it was 4" wide, in the original video...

Just this morning my partner and I were discussing how to lower the volume on our rooster's crow when we stumbled across these very collars on the internet. Never before had we seen such a simple, yet presumably efficient, piece of chicken hardware!!! My only question is...DO THEY WORK??? Since our flock is positive for Marek's, rehoming is not an option and culling a perfectly healthy animal just isn't in me so if anybody has had ANY hands on experience with these collars...PLEASE...post your opinions so we can decide, without bias, if we should buy some of these, or not. My roo thanks you in advance!!!

this is a FANTASTIC video, thank you so much for sharing. the sound he makes with it on is quite hilarious to me. great job!

I posted a youtube video of my self-made rooster collar here: http://backyardboogi.com/news.html

I'm using a 2" wide velcro stip and it works. You can see the rooster's muffled crow in the video. He is used to the collar and it doesn't prevent him from doing all his other duties :)

My tips would be: Make sure it is at least 2" wide as it gives the collar the structural strength while keeping sure that the animal is not strangled. Narrow bands may collapse the air duct, which makes for a very unhappy rooster. Use industrial strength velcro as it stays snug and won't expand over time. Start loose and tighten it as he gets used to it. You can literally adjust the volume on the crowing as you tighten. Again, by using a wide band I found it to be very safe to tighten (no struggling for air - which I witnessed at first when i used a narrower rubber band).
