Rooster Coloring Query

Can somebody tell me if this 3-4 month old cockerel will ever get a more reddish pattern on its body as it grows older?

The body feathers will remain mostly black. However, the red feathering on the shoulders, saddle and hackle will probably be a lot more apparent when the feathers lengthen. He is similar in color to a black copper Marans, so you could use that for a reference as to what his coloring will be like.

Ok so judging by the current tail feathers, can you guess if it will have a sickle like long thick tail feathers in the future? Not like an ornamental bird but a normal one.

No. That won't be evident until he is in full plumage. He's still young and it will take a while for him to feather out completely.

If you are looking for more red and a full tail, brown Leghorns or Welsumers are a good bet. But I do think he will be a pretty rooster.
