rooster doesn't like me picking hen up

everytime i pick up a chicken and it squawks a little my rooster Chuck comes running and hits me, i think it is kinda cute but i want the hens to get used to me picking them up. anybody Know how to deal with this

A roosters job is to protect his girls. Hes just doing his job. He may get used to you picking them up after some time.

Yup to me that is normal rooster behavior. My current batch of them run over concerned and give me the stink eye without any contact. However, in the early hormonal stage of their development there was some wing flogging. One(from this batch) didn't graduate from the cockerel to rooster class as he was sent off to the culinary arts department for his excesses combined with genetic failings. Best wishes!

I will say that it took me 3 years to have a stable flock with roosters. In my first attempts I was raising chicks as a group and the roosters were free to educate themselves with bad results. Once I had a stable flock of elder hens to raise my cockerels things changed for me.
