Hi all,
This is Fernando. The past week in his life has been rough. We introduced a new rooster, who is very sweet and all, but Fernando, as the former top rooster, needs to keep his place in the pecking order. They've been fighting quite a lot and Fernando doesn't accept defeat.

2 days ago I found his ear was bleeding a little and has a little bit of flesh exposed. Today, I found him with this massive tear on his earlobe with yellow moist flesh underneath. I immediately took the poor baby and put some Hen Healer on him.

What can I do to make him feel better? Should I consider rehoming him?

He has mysterious black dried up stuff on his wattles and other earlobe and I suspect that it's blood.
The following photo is him 2 days ago bleeding:

How did you introduce them?
Just dab some neosporin on it and keep an eye on it.
You might have seen my other thread. I put the new roo in a cage in the run for a day. Then for the night I let him out. I probably could have done longer but the chickens didn't fight the first day so I thought they were fine. By the way, Fernando fights with another rooster that he grew up with on a daily basis, so I wasn't too worried when they had a short fight on the second day, and Fernando ran away after losing. Even when Fernando fights with his same age less dominant brother who always loses and runs away he's always the one that gets hurt somehow 😭.

Typically , you physically seperate them with clear visual (put them in a cage or on other side of a fence) for at least a week, Typically 2.

I will definitely do that next time I get new birds. Their fighting has calmed down a lot, but with 3 roosters and 13 hens we will 100% have to get rid of at least one rooster one way or another. It's hard to think about giving one away since I love all 3 and I can't decide 😭.
