Rooster feeding hens?

I've had chickens for about 12 years now, and I totally get "chicken TV", so I was surprised to see a new behavior. My roo was making some odd staccato sounds, so it got my attention, he had found some blooming dandelions growing through a crack in the patio, picked off a couple flowers, and was trying to get the girls to come over...he even pecked one apart and put it in front of one of the ladies. Once he got them over there and eating, he stood and watched the sky, because that area is pretty exposed. Have you seen this? Can't imagine how I would have missed it?

Dang phone. I must have missed it? Especially him picking flowers. I never saw a roo helping feed chicks, either, though I've lost many to predators while they were defending the flock. My peacock, who apparently identifies as chicken, also defends the flock, I've seen him fly up in the air to fight a young redtail hawk who targeted a half grown chicken.
