I do not have any pictures at this time, but my rooster has an infected eye. Recently he and another rooster got into a fight, which disrupted the hierarchy of my whole flock. At first he only had the normal cuts that were easy to treat, but today I noticed that his eye was shut and had swelled with dark-brown liquid seeping. I am going to separate him and begin to clean the infection with warm water and a hand towel. After, I will apply, with a cotton swab or pad, some antibiotic spray. I will also add some B-12 to his water as he is lethargic and likely not eating. I need to know if there is anything else that I can do to treat him. I will not be able to do anything other than what I have listed until tomorrow afternoon at the earliest. Thank you.

Can you tell if the eyeball is punctured or intact? When the conjunctiva is swollen after an injury, it cannbe hard to see the eye. Saline can be used to flush out the eye and clean away drainage and gunk, and Terramycin eye ointment can be applied into the eye 2-3 times a day. If you cannot get Terramycin or an antibiotic eyedrop, you can use plain Neosporin or Triple Antibiotic Ointment.

It definitely looks punctured. He looked better this morning, so that’s good. I’ll try to do some more cleaning with saline this afternoon. Thank you for the tips.
