what's his crop like?
It sounds like heart failure

i couldn't feel his crop because of the weird breastbone thing. he eats normal layer pellets/crumbles and occasionally treats. we were starting a cocci prevention med thing in their water, maybe he was allergic?

He could be allergic but it's very unlikely.
Is he doing any better?
Non laying birds shouldn't eat layer feed, too much calcium.
