Rooster has infected dew claw. The claw is broken off. Leg is swollen and warm to the touch. Soaking it twice a day in benedine and hot water. Suggestions please.

it sounds like your right, it could be bumblefoot. and if it is, I feel so sorry for that poor roo.If you can upload a pic, that would be helpful. It could be bumblefoot, but without seeing, we really can't tell what you are dealing with.
correct. but shouldn't 1dumbcluck make sure it is bumblefoot first?I have done surgery on my Easter Egger twice for bumblefoot. I can walk you thru instructions on how to do the surgery. It's not bad. As long as you have a strong stomach. It almost instantly relieves the chicken. Because bumblefoot is an infection, it can kill them. So you need to treat asap.
