Rooster has to go...

And of course the coworker knows the reason you're getting rid of him, they know this rooster attacks people, right? I guess they're hoping that with 6 acres to range on he'll be less likely to find them and flog them?

I know how easy it is to get attatched to these beautiful birds, even the "bad boys". But I still believe that since there realistically are homes/jobs for less than 10% of all roosters hatched, ONLY the best behaved roosters should be kept. The rest can be appreciated just as well as dinner guests.

I'm sorry for everyone's sadness in giving up their roos, really I am. It's just one of the realistic aspects of keeping chickens.

Been there done that...put a 'free to a good table' add the paper and was very unhappy/happy when within hours of the add coming out I got a call. I did raise them for meat but couldn't do it when the time came. I had 5 but only could find 4 when the time came and then the next day a family came for a "pet" and the last of the five went. I really did get BR's for both eggs and meat...guess I am gonna have to toughen my skin. Times are tought.....GRANDAMA!!! I should have been listen when she passed on her wisdom. Maybe she will come to me in a dream.
