Rooster has to go...

I had the same issue. Of all the roosters that I had only one was nice. I had many bald chickens running around the yard. I even had a bantam rooster that went after the bigger hens.

That was a major descussion awhile back....about holding them up-sidedown.
NOT !!!!! ....................you could kill them that way. They can stop breathing. Please don't do this.

A chicken doesn't die as soon as you flip them over. I didn't say carry him around upside down. If it's just a few seconds it won't hurt him. If that was the case the lady down the road wouldn't have any roosters at all.

One of your RIR's looks like a cockerel to me

.

My EE roo is a big boy and it really looks like he is rough with his hens but he is really good to them and they follow him around like he's the Pied Piper or something. My 12 yr old granddaughter was outside one day and I could hear her saying, "Bad rooster, bad bad rooster" When I went to the door she told me that the rooster was attacking the hen and biting her on the head....

You know it really stinks to be a roo. Your odds are just not good.
I rehomed my RueRoo yesterday because he was so stinking bossy to my girls. He plucked my BO girls little heads plumb bald! I did manage to get a couple of his children though. Oddly enough, today I miss him.

I also have six more up and coming roos. 4 of them are 15 weeks old , two of them are 8 week cuckoo marans...and of those six, I plan to keep 2, maybe 3 tops. So far Craigslist isn't panning out for me.

I have 15 RIRs, the roo was obvious at three weeks of age. at 14 weeks he had a huge comb and wattle and started to crow.
His comb grew large fairly early, two of the pullets grew red on their combs at 8 weeks of age.

I too had a roo a Rhode Island red he was beautiful but I rehomed him to a farm with 8 others hens his age and I am so happy, My other 4 will now roam with the buffs who are 1 year old so 9 happy hens to 1 fiesty red island boy:) But I will miss him

I sure am happy to come across these post tonight.
As of now my beatiful RIR roo sits in a cage.I will be taking him to work with me tommoro to give to a coworker who has 6 acres to
range on.
I have been crying off and on talking to Dante:(
I feel so bad.
I have had him for 3 yrs.
He is good to the hens.tho he attacks people so hes got to go.
I will be very sad tomoro when I come home.
He crows when he hears my car pull in.
It wasent easy getting him in to the cage.
And I started thinking how upsetting it would be for to
be yanked out of my home and dropped off in unfamilliar
surroundings:(
My sons And friends think that I shouldndt be so upset
over an abusive roo.
I must be a codependant:lol:

I hate when i think in a month I need to rehome a few roos.

They just can't stay!!!! I have plenty of room for the hens, but when it comes to adding a coop....or 2 or 3....just to accommodate the roos.
My DH won't build many more.....

I just hate to see them go.
