Rooster Hiding

Our rooster was attacked by another animal and is still alive but hiding way up under the house. How do we coax him out so we can take care of him? There's very little clearance and he's probably more than 12 foot under there. Having to use a flashlight to see him.

My rooster was attacked before too by a dog. Try putting some fresh veggies close to the edge where you want him to go. After he comes to that try to lay down and get a look at him and access the damage if possible. Then try to coax him a little closer with some scratch. It took several minutes for me to coax mine to come out ( we had to net him ) because of the trauma and fear but he finally did come out. Time might be critical because of the puncture wounds.So good luck and keep trying carefully and slowly.

This is the third day and he's finally came out. Limping on one leg a little . Tail feathers are gone but boy he has an appetite and just crowing like crazy! Guess he just needed some time to recover and get his confidence back up.

keep an eye on his leg feed him good feed and maybe some crushed egg shells

Keep him separated and give him awhile to recover, I'm showing he will get better soon.

If you are not feeding a high protein feed, provide protein supplements. If you have other roosters, make sure they do not pick on him while he is injured.
