So I really wanted some individual rooster condos for my boys so the girls don't have to put up with them all the time. While I could build something, I saw these shelves at Home Depot and decided that they would make a great condo with a few modifications. In the pic below I have only put the wire on the top one, but there will be 4 condos. I cut the door opening and since the pic was taken I've attached the wire door. The shelves are ventilated so to make the floor solid I put vinyl stick tiles on each shelf making sure there was no gap between them. I'll put shavings in them.

The "condos" are 3 ft. wide X 2 ft deep X 20 inches high which is perfect for my silkie boys. Now they will be able to see out but not see each other. They will be located inside the large pen which is 10 feet tall X 10 ft. wide and 8 ft. long. When I get it completed and installed I'll post another pic.

I'll rotate them out with the girls every 3 days or so. What do you think??

That is an excellent idea!!!
My 2 Polish boys need a condo unit as they attack my Polish girls and they, of course, have their own condo unit. I just may "borrow" your idea

Pretty cool, but what is REALLY COOL is your signature. I bet you are beside yourself with anticipation. Thank you for your daughter's service and prayers are on their way now for her safe return.

PS. You also live in my favorite town in the whole country, which is also very cool. UF College of Law Class of '88. Go Gators!

Oldtimegator, can you give us some more detail on how the wire was bolted onto the frame? Any more construction detail would be helpful. And please keep us posted as to the door installation. Great idea! Thanx!

WOW!!!! Underground...what a small world!! Yep, I was born and raised here although I did live elsewhere for a few years. So many folks come back. I had my 40th high school reunion last year and it was amazing how many people had retired and come back to Gainesville.

Go Gators!!!

Yes, my daughter was supposed to leave Iraq yesterday. I think they have been in lockdown because I haven't heard from her in a couple of days but she should be back in Gainesville by next weekend!. Can't wait to see her again. She was a senior at UF last year when she was cross-leveled and mobilized with the 323rd MI BN out of Baltimore. She'll start back at UF in May and try to get that degree behind her. Thanks for your kind words...I'll give her your message.

I hadn't thought about chicks...that's a great idea!
