Rooster hurting hens

Long time hen owner, first time rooster owner. My roosters are tearing up my hens backs and sides. They are raw and bloody. They do not seem to be in pain, but it looks really painful to me. Is this normal?

No that isn't. A few feathers gone yes raw and bloody no. How many hens do you have and how old is your rooster?

We have 12 hens and 3 rooster. All raised together and all 5 months old. There are 2 Road Island Red rooster and 1 Delaware Rooster. All were supposed to be pullets when we got them. Wound up with 3 roosters and just decided to keep them and give them a try. Not really liking the way they treat my ladies

I agree....the hens are just going to get worse...and quickly.

Thank you both so much. That's what I was thinking. Probably gonna re-home or plate the 2 Road Island Reds. They are huge and can be nasty. They come after me every time I go in run. I have 4 cinnamon queen hens. They are pretty small. The RIR roosters look like they're killing them when get on top of them. My Delaware boy is more friendly and gentle. And he's prettier...lol.
