Rooster in Court in France

People get strange notions. There are quite of few people I'd liked to silence (in a non-thug like terminology:)), made to move far away so I don't have to listen to them. I live in a village. All the neighbours love hearing my cockerel doing his thing. It is calming. Nature has rights.
I can't stand fireworks. Not anymore. I could sit and listen to birds all day. :)
I'm with you on the fireworks. Around here, the fireworks are not restricted to just one night. Private citizens buy fireworks and start setting them off days before the 4th, then continue for days after. They set them off in the middle of the afternoon, late at night, rain or shine. When you have dogs that are terrified by the random sudden explosions of noise, it breaks your heart for them. The noise from the sanctioned fireworks displays are not nearly as frightening for them as the radom, close by, fireworks of neighbors.

My two are outside right now having a crowing duel, as they do most mornings. I honestly don't even hear it most of the time any more. To me, loud roosters means happy, healthy roosters. I LOVE the sound of country. My brother in law, who lives in the city, on his last visit commented on how 'loud all the birds are', meaning the regular songbirds, crows, jays, etc. Well, I guess they are loud if you've never heard them before!

Before we had chickens, when my youngest daughter was a teenager, she openly complained that the song birds in the backyard made so much noise she could not sleep while sunbathing and that I needed to shut them up. You can guess what I did.
:gig:lau

I read about Maurice in the NY Times a few weekends ago while at that same daughter's house. She and her fiancee just happen to be prosecuting attorneys. Their comment was that these people could not have selected a more sympathetic person to go after. No jury is going to rule against that old lady and beautiful rooster.

I hope they are right. :fl

Stories like this always remind me of how blessed I am to live where I do. I'm in a rural area, and there are around 15/20 roosters within earshot of my house. Including my handful. Nobody complains. It's an accepted part of country life. :)

You are blessed indeed!

I'll take fireworks anyday over my obnoxious neighbors shooting their guns all day long. But it's all the same. We live right down the street from a farm, and I can tell when my neighbor gets home because he goes outside and shoots for a couple hours. Yes, hours. It's like, don't you have any considerations for anyone else? I'm sure those cows don't enjoy it. My chickens are almost immune to it by now.

Here is a proposed memetic use, based on his look, especially the eyebrouw.
