Rooster injury or not??

I've had this happen a few times over the years. It's always been the dominant rooster, and he always just happily sits there while his ladies pluck his neck bald....
I've never intervened, and for whatever reason, every time, after a week or so they just stopped.
I never understood why the hens did it, or why they quit...
Chickens can be so weird 🤔
I will keep an eye on it. Any concerns to watch for? So far I'm only worried because its winter and 20°F and he has exposed skin. He actually looks worse after applying peck no more, looks red and irritated when before was just exposed skin.
Thanks
I'd use the Blue Kote, it's color helps to camouflage the bare area. Perhaps the girls will leave that area alone for a bit so it can heal.
I actually looked for bluekote but couldn't find at the store. Closest to a farm supply here is a Farm and fleet which is probably similar to Tractor Supply.
Thanks

Bleeding.
I've had quite a few birds with bare skin, from picking and other, over the winter here.
Not been an issue.

Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, (laptop version shown), then it's always there!

This is actually funny because I've seen you post this location screenshot at least 4 times. I know I put it in but it must not have saved or got lost with site upgrade. I am Chicago suburbs. Just found state section for Illinois and found some enthusiasts near me.

You can get Blue Kote online at Amazon and other websites. It's a good article to have in your first aid kit!
