I've never had one that didn't- one seems to think its an alarm call though. But they've always joined in!Some of the cockerels I’ve had would sing the egg song with the girls
^^^Are you sure that it is the rooster killing your hens? As said above, good roosters should protect their hens, never harm or better yet kill them. What makes you think your rooster is killing them?
^^^I suggest you separate the rooster from the hens for at least a few days: divide their pen with something, or put him in a wire dog crate, or something like that.
If any more hens die, then you have some other predator to find, and the rooster is not the problem. If the deaths stop, then butcher the rooster and eat him. Or give him to someone else that would like to eat him, if you don't want to do it yourself.
