Rooster is molting early?

If they peck him a little, it may be happening at night while roosting. I'm wondering if more pecking is going on at night while they situate themselves.

They do tend to poke at each other more at night. I’ve caught the ladies get grumpy when I shut them in at night. If this is the case, do you have any suggestions how to fix it?

I would put up a trail camera for at night to figure out who the main pecker is, and put them in a crate at night to change that behavior.
I'm not a fan of blu-kote but it does hide the red of the skin but it also gets all over everything including ungloved hands.
